We're stocking books by Canadian authors

Welcome to Zou Zou Media House! We’re thrilled you’re interested in becoming a part of our vibrant, community-driven events. Whether you're an indie author with a story to tell or a small business ready to showcase your creativity, we offer a unique opportunity to connect with readers and customers through our in-person bookmobile events and online platform.

The Zou Zou Media House Bookmobile is a working bookstore, and we're taking on titles by Canadian authors. We love carrying local writers, and we'd rather hand-sell a book by someone from down the road than another title everyone has already seen.

What we’re looking for

Books we carry travel with us. The mobile bookstore parks at schools, festivals, libraries, and private and community events across the Greater Toronto Area, which means your title gets in front of readers who'd never walk past it in a shop.

We prioritize diverse voices, and we welcome books from all authors. Children's books, picture books, middle grade, young adult, memoir, poetry and adult fiction and non-fiction are all worth sending our way. If your book has found readers in your community, we want to know about it.

How consignment works

We take books on consignment, which means there's no cost to you and no risk to either of us. You keep ownership of your copies. We display and sell them, and you're paid for every copy that sells.

The split is 60% to you and 40% to us, which is the standard Canadian trade rate. You set the retail price.

We start with three to five copies per title for a 90-day term. At the end of the term, we send you a statement and payment for everything sold, and you let us know whether you'd like to renew, restock or collect what's left.

The 90-day term

Titles sit with us for 90 days. If a book sells at least one copy in that time, it rolls into another 90 days automatically and stays on the shelf.

If it hasn't sold, we'll email you and ask you to collect your copies within 30 days. Books not collected within 30 days of that email may be donated to one of our literacy partners, and no payment is owed on donated copies.

Consigned books are stored on a vehicle that travels to outdoor events. We take good care of them, but we can't be responsible for loss, theft or damage.

What we don’t carry

We don't carry books centred on the occult, or books with highly explicit or violent content. Because the Bookmobile visits schools, libraries and family events, everything on our shelves has to be appropriate for the rooms we park in

How to submit your book

Email us at info@zouzoumedia.co with your book title and a sentence about what it is. We'll send you a short set of questions and ask to see a physical copy so we can assess whether it's a fit for our shelves and our readers. There's no fee to submit and no cost to be considered.
