Fund literacy where the access is thinnest, and get a real account of where it went.

The Zou Zou Media House Bookmobile is Canada's first arts and culture bookmobile, and it runs on partnership. Your organization funds a series of literacy activations across schools, parks, festivals and neighbourhoods. We design the routes, run the sessions, and send you a documented impact report you can put straight into your community investment reporting.

THE CASE

Books do not reach every neighbourhood equally.

Access to books and to live literacy programming is not evenly distributed across the Greater Toronto Area. Some children grow up within walking distance of a well stocked branch library and a bookshop. Others do not, and the gap compounds every year they are in school.

A bookmobile closes distance. It goes to the school, the park, the community centre and the festival, and it brings books, a live read-aloud, drumming, dance and hands-on activities with it. For a lot of the children we meet, it is the first time they have seen a character in a book who looks like them.

The numbers, current and sourced

In the OECD Survey of Adult Skills released in December 2024, drawing on 2022 and 2023 data, 19 per cent of Canadian adults aged 16 to 65 scored at Level 1 or below in literacy. Canada performs better than the OECD average of 26 per cent, and that is worth saying plainly. But roughly half of Canadian adults still fall short of the Level 3 proficiency generally considered the threshold for full participation in today's labour market.

The economic tail is measurable. Adults at Level 1 or below earn an average of $19 an hour. Adults at Level 4 or above earn $36. Literacy is not only an education file. It is an earnings file, and it starts in childhood.

TWO WAYS TO PARTNER

Fund the routes, or sponsor the season.

Community literacy routes

Your organization funds a defined series of literacy activations across multiple schools and community sites. You choose the communities or leave the routing to us. We handle programme design, scheduling, community coordination, on-site facilitation and reporting. One agreement, several communities served.

Bookmobile sponsorship

Your brand travels with the vehicle. Sponsorship ranges from a single event through to full season naming rights, with recognition on the bookmobile itself, at events, across our channels and in our community impact reporting.

What every partnership includes

  • Logo placement on the bookmobile for your sponsored dates

  • Recognition on our website supporters' section

  • Social media features across our channels

  • Post-event or post-season impact reporting with attendance numbers, books distributed, photographs and community feedback

CUSTOM AND MULTI-YEAR

If none of these quite fit, say so.

We build custom partnerships around specific community goals. Recent conversations have included multi-year commitments, cause marketing integrations, employee engagement tied to sponsorship, and event anchored activations.

Adopt-A-School

Fund a full year of literacy programming at a named school, including scheduled bookmobile visits, donated books for the library and classrooms, and a dedicated report on that school's engagement. Popular with organizations that want their giving attached to one identifiable community rather than spread thinly.

Employee engagement add-on

Sponsors frequently pair a community route with a booking at their own workplace, so staff experience the programme they are funding. Ask us to quote both together.

REPORTING

Every activation is documented.

You receive a written impact report covering attendance numbers, books distributed, locations served, photographs with appropriate consent, and community feedback. It is formatted so it can go directly into your annual community investment or corporate responsibility reporting, your internal communications and your stakeholder presentations.

Event Sponsors receive a post-event summary. Route and Season Sponsors receive a full post-season report.
